Play by Kay Pollak | Translated into German by Jana Hellberg | Low German version by Harald Weiler and Cornelia Ehlers

“Ever since I was a little boy, I’ve had a dream: I want to make music that touches people’s hearts…”
Daniel Daréus in *As in’n Häben*

Daniel Daréus has since gone from being a young violinist to an internationally acclaimed conductor, traveling from one renowned orchestra to the next. But the relentless concert schedule and his pursuit of perfection cause him to lose his joy in music. After suffering a physical breakdown, he returns to the seclusion of his home village to find himself again and takes a position as cantor of the local church choir. Even though some members of the community initially oppose him, Daniel makes a fresh start with his choir members, teaching them not only a passion for music but also how to listen to one another, support each other, and discover their own voices—and in doing so, he finally finds his own inner peace. To kick off its 100th anniversary, the Fritz-Reuter-Bühne, in collaboration with the Singakademie Schwerin, presents Kay Pollak’s Oscar-nominated musical film *As It Is in Heaven* (2004) in a moving theatrical adaptation featuring choral singing. A tribute to solidarity, the joy of life, and the power to achieve something together against all odds—a treat for the eyes, the ears, the heart, and, of course, in the Low German dialect!
