An illustrated lecture into the realm of giant oaks in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern and beyond.
The oak is considered to be Germany's most important tree species: it is the national tree, was sacred to the Germanic ancestors and is still an important symbol of German cultural history, which can be found on coins and coats of arms, among other things. No other tree species has been described, depicted and mythologized as often as the oak. Even today, impressive specimens can be found in all parts of Germany, especially in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. With impressive pictures and fascinating stories from past centuries, Jeroen Pater will take you on a journey into the mysterious realm of these ancient giant oaks!
Jeroen Pater has known these ancient natural monuments from an early age. He has even dedicated a book to them: "Giant oaks. Tree personalities and their stories". He will of course have this book with him at the lecture and it will be available for purchase.
As always, admission to the lecture is free of charge, but the NaturErlebnisZentrum would be delighted to receive a donation.
