Alice can’t stand hearing it anymore: she’s constantly being faced with demands she can’t—and won’t—meet. Apparently, everyone knows exactly how she’s supposed to be, what she’s supposed to become, what she absolutely must not do, what norms she has to fit into, and so on. Crushed by all these expectations—both those of others and her own—her only option is to run away. But where to?
The decision is made for her by the appearance of the frantic white rabbit. This rabbit drags Alice into a whirlwind of absurd, contradictory, and unsettling situations. In this “Wonderland,” she encounters the craziest creatures: snooty doors, stoned creepy-crawlies, power-hungry queens, dangerous flowers, a tea party without tea, and much more that seems designed to drive her to the brink of madness. But in the course of this madcap journey through Wonderland, she grows stronger; she takes a clearer stand and resolutely faces each challenge head-on.
At the end of this crazy journey, Alice doesn’t find the solutions to her problems, but she does find the willingness to confront them.
