Under the theme “Sing We All Noel”—let’s all sing Christmas carols—Advent music from around the world will be performed. And once again, the audience can take the theme quite literally: Everyone is warmly invited to sing along to selected, well-known songs.
On November 29, 2026, the Vocal Collegium Rostock and the Morgenstern Quartet, under the overall direction of Daniel Arnold, invite you to two festive Advent concerts at the University Church in Rostock. The performances begin at 3:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m.
Under the motto “Sing We All Noel”—let’s all sing Christmas—Advent music from around the world will be performed. And the audience can once again take the motto quite literally: Everyone is warmly invited to sing along to selected, well-known songs.
The musical program ranges from tender, contemplative melodies—such as “Übers Gebirg Maria geht,” the Swedish “Sankta Lucia,” and the English “Christmas Lullaby” — to the festive, eight-part choral arrangement “Rejoice, O Peoples of the Earth” by Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy, and on to the spirited “African Noel.”
Familiar Christmas carols meet international choral music, while selected recitations give voice to thoughts of peace, hope, joy, and community. This creates a special atmosphere that invites reflection and, in an evocative way, gets the audience in the Christmas spirit together with the choir.
The vocal collegium rostock
The vocal collegium rostock is a long-established mixed choir that has enriched Rostock’s musical landscape for decades. Under the artistic direction of Daniel Arnold, who has led the ensemble since 2015, the choir is dedicated to a diverse repertoire: It ranges from arrangements of folk songs and sacred works to Romantic choral music, spirituals, and popular contemporary compositions, all the way to large-scale choral-symphonic works—most recently, the oratorio “Elijah.”
