Stories, accounts, and anecdotes spanning seven decades of church history are the focus of this event at the Schifferkirche in Ahrenshoop.
To mark the 75th anniversary of the church’s construction, people who are connected to the Schifferkirche and its history in very different ways are coming together—sharing their personal memories, experiences, and stories that have accumulated over the years.
In a moderated panel discussion, Dr. Otto Seeberg, Anne-Dore Baumgarten, Hildegard Kramer, Dr. Dieter Borchmann, and Kristian Wegscheider will share insights into seven decades of a special place in the Baltic resort of Ahrenshoop. The discussion will focus on the church’s origins in the early postwar period, life surrounding the church, changes over time, and what has remained in people’s memories. The evening will be moderated by Marion Wulf-Nixdorf.
The Schifferkirche, consecrated in 1951 and designed as a modern wooden structure with a thatched roof, is not only an architectural gem but has also always been a gathering place in the artists’ village of Ahrenshoop.
