This year, the youth symphony orchestra of the Kon.centus district music school is once again presenting its annual orchestra concert. This year, for the 54th time since its foundation in 1971. Under the direction of Wolfgang Hasleder, the young people have put together a program over the past year that could not be more varied.
This year's concert is all about international friendship. For decades, concert tours have taken the ensemble to special places such as Nazareth, Szczecinek or Villejuif (Paris) - places where music has become a universal language. This tradition of international understanding will continue in 2026: The JSO welcomes musicians from the partner youth orchestra of the city of Villejuif (Paris) to join its ranks.
Together, the young talents will present a journey through eras and continents. The classical core is formed by C.M. v. Weber's "Freischütz" overture and Beethoven's dramatic 3rd piano concerto, interpreted by soloist Rico Gatzke. With Liesbeth Meyer's accordion solo in "Sous le Ciel de Paris", a touch of French flair wafts through the hall, before the orchestra transports the audience to the world of cinema with rhythms from Brazil, "Chicago" and the iconic sounds of James Bond and "Taming the Dragon Made Easy".
