Every day, a diverse program of entertainment delights visitors of all ages. This year’s special guest is the legendary dragon “Morghul,” hunted by the Order of the Black Knights from Bohemia. Cocolorus Budenzauber delights audiences with entertaining juggling and acrobatic shows, masked and stilt theater, fairy tales, and magic. Various bands playing different musical styles provide the musical backdrop.
The annual theatrical performance by the Penzlin Castle Nobility, followed by a knighting ceremony and the selection of the damsel of the castle, takes place at 1:00 p.m. (“Landraub”) and at 4:00 p.m. (“Das Bündnis”).
The museum also welcomes guests to the castle festival. Guided tours of the torture chamber and dungeon take place every hour on the hour starting at 12:00 p.m. There will also be a photo booth where you can have your picture taken in period costumes against a historic backdrop.
The grounds around the Old and New Castles feature numerous market stalls offering crafts, handmade jewelry, clothing, and many other beautiful items. A giant marble run, a large wooden waterwheel, a mini Ferris wheel, historic carousels, a knights’ camp, and much more adorn the castle grounds. Delicious food and drinks from around the world will satisfy guests’ appetites.
Young and old alike can try their hand at axe throwing, archery and crossbow shooting, trampoline jumping, and other activities. Once again this year, all children are invited to participate in the big scavenger hunt.
