Traveling Exhibition at Neustrelitz City Hall
On Wednesday, the royal seat of Neustrelitz kicked off the traveling exhibition “Never Forget: A Person Works Here” by the German Trade Union Federation (DGB) with a joint opening ceremony at City Hall and the Town Hall. The exhibition is part of a nationwide DGB campaign and is being shown in conjunction with the current exhibition “Responsibilities We Share.”
More than 30 roll-up banners feature real employees from various sectors of the public service. They share their experiences with insults, threats, and violence in their daily work. Among those represented are employees from local public transportation, waste management, the police, fire department, emergency services, hospitals, and job centers.
The exhibition makes it clear that people who perform important tasks for the common good on a daily basis are increasingly experiencing disrespect and hostility. Many of the professions featured are particularly visible in public spaces. Yet even employees in administrative offices are repeatedly confronted with situations where the boundaries of respectful interaction are crossed.
With this exhibition, the royal seat of Neustrelitz aims to send a clear message of appreciation, respect, and fair treatment. After all, behind every desk, every phone call, every official notice, and every personal conversation stands a person who performs their work with dedication and to the best of their knowledge and belief.
“The exhibition is aimed not only at the visitors to our facilities, but also at the employees themselves,” emphasized the city administration. “It is intended to make it clear that such experiences are acknowledged and taken seriously, and that no one is alone in facing them.”
At the opening, Roger Müller, Regional Director of the DGB East Mecklenburg-Vorpommern region, explained the background of the campaign and called for greater respect toward public service employees.
The exhibition can be viewed free of charge during the opening hours of City Hall and the Stadthaus. All interested citizens are cordially invited to engage with the stories on display and to take a stand for respectful coexistence.
