Films from across Europe will compete for the prizes in October 2026
From October 7 to 9, 2026, dokumentART will showcase the diversity of European short films in its competition.

Our youth program, YOU:dok, features short films that explore current social issues from different perspectives. They deal with family, war, the climate crisis, and coming of age, inviting viewers to see the world through different eyes and sparking conversation.

- 2:00 p.m. | International Competition 8: COLLECTIONS (58 min)
Collecting is part of human nature. We collect not only objects, but also memories and encounters. Our collections often reveal more about us than we could ever express ourselves. The films in this series ask: Do we own our collections—or have they long since come to own us?

- 4:30 p.m. | International Competition 9: UNEXPECTED (77 min)
UNEXPECTED brings together short films about life-changing moments. The focus is on coping with illness, the courage to start anew, the strength of family and friendships, and unexpected twists. The films tell the stories of people who face challenges and, in doing so, forge new and unique paths of their own.

- 4:30 p.m. | International Competition 9: FILM IT, MAKE IT, FAKE IT ( 76 min)
The information that images and sources seem to convey today is, on the one hand, universally understandable thanks to technological advances, but on the other hand, it is also more susceptible to manipulation. In their search for the path to authentic filmmaking, the filmmakers confront these challenges, and the question often arises: Is it real or a deception?
