A village celebrates its history On May 11, 1996, the "Fischerstube" Mönkebude Museum opened its doors - and has since developed into a lively place of remembrance and encounter. What once began as a small exhibition on the history of fishing is now a lovingly maintained piece of village culture that delights locals and guests alike.
In the fisherman's parlor, you can feel the spirit of times gone by: Nets, fish traps, tools and photos tell of the hard but proud work of the fishermen on the Szczecin Lagoon. Many of the exhibits come from local Mönkebuder families - each piece with its own story. The museum thus not only preserves material evidence, but above all the knowledge, language and cohesion of an entire generation.
On the occasion of the 30th anniversary on May 17, 2026, the municipality and the Mönkebude BgA tourism company cordially invite you to look back on this time together. There will be guided tours of the exhibition, small demonstrations of traditional craftsmanship and discussions with contemporary witnesses who will talk about fishing and life in the village. Food and drink will also be provided - with a regional farmers' market.
The anniversary is a heartfelt thank you to all those who have filled the Fischerstube with life over the years: to the staff, the dedicated volunteers, the collectors, donors and visitors who have made the museum what it is today - a centerpiece of Mönkebude's identity.
Mönkebude is looking forward to welcoming many guests to celebrate this special anniversary together.
