Teterow, the heart of Mecklenburg, provides a charming backdrop for the 26th Central Mecklenburg Pottery Market on August 1 and 2, 2026.
More than 70 professional pottery studios from all over Germany and abroad set up their booths and tents around the idyllic Mühlenteich to showcase a selection of high-quality pottery. In addition to functional ceramics, unique artistic pieces are also available. A peaceful stroll, browsing, and marveling in a unique atmosphere right in the heart of Teterow’s old town is guaranteed.
There’s also coffee and cake, hearty grilled dishes, smoked fish from the region, and sausages—not just for die-hard sausage lovers but also for vegetarians—along with finger food, delicacies from the “Pastamobil,” a variety of ice cream flavors, and specialty coffees straight from the “Coffee-Bike.”
History:
The Pottery Market has its origins in 1998 on the grounds of the historic restaurant “Zum Goldenen Frieden” near Schlitz Castle. Founded and initially organized with 30 booths, this event was launched by the well-known ceramicist Peter Fassunge. Since 2003, Peter Fassunge and the Kunstverein Teterow e.V. have organized the Pottery Market together. Starting in 2008, the Kunstverein took over sole responsibility for organizing the event. In 2016, the Pottery Market took place for the first time at Teterow’s most idyllic spot, the Mühlenteich. Due to the steadily growing number of visitors and exhibiting potters (approx. 70 booths) from all over Germany, it became necessary to relocate the Central Mecklenburg Pottery Market.
The increasing number of applications from ceramic artists across Germany necessitates a rigorous selection process. The works are reviewed by a panel of experts consisting of the board of directors of the Kunstverein Teterow e.V. and the executive management. The jury also strives to maintain a balance between regional and national ceramic artists in order to appropriately promote and support local producers.
