Fair & Congress

The “Brick Architecture” conferences are dedicated to the study and preservation of brick, a material with many facets.

Since 2006, the Hanseatic cities of Lübeck, Wismar, Rostock, and Stralsund, in collaboration with the German Foundation for Monument Protection and the European Center for Brick Architecture e. V., have been hosting an annual two-day international conference on brick architecture. The congress is aimed at art historians, architects, civil engineers, construction tradespeople, historic preservationists, and interested members of the public. As an intermunicipal, cross-state project, this congress series has a unique selling point among the numerous events dedicated to the construction industry. The 22nd congress, scheduled for September 2 and 3, 2027, will take place, as is tradition, at St. Georgen Church in Wismar, and this year’s theme is “Brick—Universal and Sustainable.”
