Greifswald Big Band Celebrates Anniversary
The Greifswald Big Band “Groovties” will celebrate its 20th anniversary on October 10, 2026, at St. Spiritus. The big band consists of 20 ambitious amateur musicians who perform concerts throughout Vorpommern that are anything but ordinary. That’s because the typical big band sound—from swing to groove—isn’t enough for them! They present a wide-ranging repertoire of songs that are sure to make every music fan’s heart race. From rock to pop to Latin, the “Groovties” perform catchy tunes and classics spanning seven decades. Adele, Michael Jackson, Bruno Mars, ABBA, and Santana—all arranged for saxophones, trumpets, trombones, the rhythm section, and the vocalist—make for a special and rare experience. The 20th anniversary is a special milestone for the big band, one they’d love to celebrate with an audience of music lovers. The anniversary concert begins at 7 p.m., and starting at 9 p.m., concertgoers can also look forward to a lively after-show party. Tickets for the event are now available for €12 (reduced rate of €10 for high school and college students and seniors) at St. Spiritus, the City Information Office, and the music school.
