The bricks lie outside, raindrops on the windowpanes. You hear giggling behind closed bathroom doors, see a couple playing cards, and taste stale beer in the morning. A restoration artist dreams of peace, and in the back, someone who’s lost is waiting. Fathers and retired women wearing hats. Up front, a conductor with a badge of honor checks students who aren’t in school, and the train conductor smokes outside the door, but the station has already been torn down. Outside, the sun struggles over a field, while the full rows remain empty and you stand in the aisle without a seat. The “Strange Travelers” group on their way to paradise.
