Latin concert
Latin American flair and sophisticated compositions by two special songwriters: Puerto Rican singer Judith Tellado and German-Portuguese saxophonist Paulo Pereira present songs from their joint album "GALEGO". Judith Tellado sings lyrics in Spanish, Portuguese or English that she has written to Paulo Pereira's compositions: pieces that deal with the longing for Lisbon, dare to look across the Atlantic to Brazil or tell of hot nights over the rooftops of Boston. With their trio, the two authors are musically diverse, with songs ranging from the Latin American sounds of samba, bossa nova and calypso to boldly swinging jazz.
The program is rounded off with songs from Judith Tellado's latest album "Yerba Mala", which was highly praised by the trade press and with which the singer was already seen live on ZDF Morgenmagazin.
The variety of instruments and sounds that the trio brings to the stage also makes you stop and stare: Judith Tellado is both a singer and a percussionist. Sometimes she strums the swinging jazz snare, then again she plays the güiro, a traditional instrument from her Caribbean homeland, in the best salsa style. Paulo Pereira alternates between tenor and soprano saxophone and flute. Georg Sheljasov can be heard on piano on some tracks and on acoustic guitar on others.
