Museums, Historical Buildings, barrier-free

The 700-year-old museum house has been part of the STRALSUND MUSEUM since its renovation by the German Foundation for Monument Protection. Here, Hanseatic history can be experienced up close from the cellar to the roof of the old merchant's and grocer's house. The history of the building and its use has been restored and documented in great detail. A must for every visit to the old town of Stralsund, which has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2002.

Everything here is real - you can feel that immediately in the 700-year-old museum house. it offers a look behind the scenes and a journey through time at the same time - unique in Germany. Even dust and soot are preserved here. Above all, the merchants and traders of the Hanseatic era have left their mark.

The hallway was a lively place: sacks and barrels were delivered. The wooden cargo wheel, which has been preserved in its original form to this day, distributed them to the warehouse floors by means of a rope hoist. All the space was needed for goods. Therefore, people lived in the Kemladen, the annex on the courtyard. If you duck your head, you can look for the house tree in the cellar and find what is pretty about the "Hübsche Stube" on the upper floor. What do you think was cooked in the black kitchen and where did the ornate wallpaper come from? For the youngest guests there are coloring sheets with the wallpaper patterns at the cash desk.
