Monuments and Sights

Sculpture by WILHELM GAUGER

The Gate of Heaven deliberately wants to draw attention, stimulate and encourage the viewer to ask himself: How is peace between people, peoples, races, ideologies and religions possible? What can I personally contribute to it? Yes, what do I have to change in myself with regard to other people?
The peace of the world begins with myself.
The Gate of Heaven can be entered through three sides. Open and permeable to people. Not closed. A gate that is wide open. People can meet here, however different they may be. - From the inauguration speech of Pastor Johannes Lehnert on St. Bartholomew's Day 2003-.
