The small village of Alt Schwerin on the northern shore of Lake Plau has made it its mission to make a visit to the museum exciting and interesting for everyone. There are a wide variety of exhibits to discover throughout the village - from the church with its 13th century base, the estate with manor house, a steward's house, large granaries and stables from the 19th century to a single-family home of an LPG member from the 1970s.

The core of the museum ensemble is the AGRONEUM, an open-air museum focusing on agriculture and crafts. Here, for example, there is a neo-baroque wrought-iron gate that won a special prize at the 1893 World Exhibition and originally belonged to the Vollratsruhe manor house. However, before it found its place in the AGRONEUM, it formed the courtyard entrance to the Alt Schwerin manor house for many years.
