Stop and unpack your picnic - nice rest area on both sides of the road between Goldenstädt and Friedrichsmoor, directly on the New Canal. A seating area is right next to a small pond. On the other side of the road, the view first falls on a weir and a fish ladder, which helps fish and other water creatures to overcome the height difference. Benches invite you to linger. A little further along the canal, you will come to a resting hut next to an ancient oak tree with a view of the wide meadow landscape. An observation tower on a small hill offers further beautiful views of Germany's largest contiguous meadow landscape.

Information boards report on moor protection measures and the native bird life of the Lewitz.

Friedrichsmoor Forest Adventure Trail - Legendary Lewitz

The world of legends in the Lewitz is teeming with dragons, mythical creatures and all kinds of secrets from the history of Germany's largest meadow landscape. There are a total of 16 stations along the trail, each of which has a legend as its theme. Artists have created statues for each station, and the legend can be read on panels or accessed as a radio play via QR code. For children there are discovery tasks and information about the forest and nature is conveyed in a playful way. Start and finish is the hunting lodge Friedrichsmoor the path is suitable for hikers and cyclists.
