The historic building of the old bakery houses a café, vacation apartments and a small wool store.
The "Alte Dampfbäckerei" is a historic building (dating from around 1800) and now houses a museum café and 2 vacation apartments. In the courtyard and in the rooms of the historic bakery, guests can enjoy the special atmosphere of the historic building with coffee, tea and homemade cakes. The sight of the many old utensils will take you back to a bygone era. Take a look around the 200-year-old walls of the bakery - the steam oven, flour loot, sack beater and much more can still be found here. Access to the café is from the church square through the Green Gate.
In the former bakery store there is a small wool store with a selection of high-quality wool: the WOLLERISTA. For all knitting and crocheting enthusiasts, the Damgartener Stricktreff takes place every Wednesday afternoon from 2.30 pm in the café of the Alte Dampfbäckerei.
In our vacation apartments you can spend your vacation in a special atmosphere all year round. Here you will find peace and quiet among lovingly collected rarities from times gone by. The "Nostalgie" vacation apartment is a 3-room apartment on the 1st and 2nd floor for 2 people. The "Kleine Kammer" vacation apartment is a 1-room apartment for 2 people. There is also simple accommodation for bikers of all kinds, or last-minute travelers who can do without luxury for an overnight stay. There are four beds with bed linen available. In the past, the accommodation was intended for employees and apprentices of the bakery and is located directly above the bakery of the Alte Dampfbäckerei, accessible via a narrow staircase.
The "Alte Dampfbäckerei" is located in the heart of the Damgarten district with a view of the 13th century Gothic church. A short footpath leads you directly to the harbor, from where you can take great canoe trips on the Recknitz. Hiking and cycling are also possible in the natural Recknitz valley. The fine sandy beaches of the Baltic Sea are about 11 km away and can be easily reached by bike or car. Sights such as the German Amber Museum, the Baltic Sea Jewelry Foam Manufactory, the Bodden Thermal Baths, the Klockenhagen Open-Air Museum and many more invite you to visit.
