The elevations of the terminal moraine landscape in Feldberg can be impressive by northern German standards. The Rosenberge, for example, which is popular as a vantage point, is a proud 145 meters high.
On the southern outskirts of Feldberg, a hiking trail leads to the Rosenberge. A wooden lookout tower has been erected there, where you can enjoy the view over the largest village in the lakeland. At 145.8 meters above sea level, the Rosenberge are one of the highest points of the terminal moraine landscape, which was shaped by the last great ice age, the Weichsel cold period. In the area around Feldberg - so also in the Rosenberge massive rocks transported by the ice accumulated at that time. In the 20th century, however, the so-called block packs were commercially exploited by a gravel works and thus largely eroded. Nowadays, however, such special landscapes are protected, which is why the removal of boulders larger than one meter is prohibited.
