The naval museum is located on the peninsula Dänholm.
The idyllically situated museum documents the island’s military development, ranging from the Prussian navy to the GDR’s Volksarmee. An original navy helicopter as well as a torpedo boat are the museum’s main attractions. Furthermore, there are many anchors spread across the outdoor area. Miniature ships, models and paintings are also part of the exhibit.

The MEERESMUSEUM in Stralsund's old town is currently closed. The museum is expected to open in 2024 after extensive modernization work.
