The library is located in the center of Ahrenshoop in the immediate vicinity of the Dornenhaus and Neue Kunsthaus and is open for you all year round. You can expect 5000 exciting copies as well as numerous DVDs and CDs and many an exciting reading.

Vacation is also time for a good book. If you haven't found your ultimate vacation read in the bookstore just before you leave, just browse for the right copy in the local library.

The spa and municipal library welcomes you in bright rooms. Here you will find about 5,000 books and numerous DVDs as well as audio books, which can also sweeten a rainy summer day. Borrow some children's books together with your children and read to your offspring. A large selection of games, from classic card and board games to bocce or kubb, will make for sociable hours with the family or among friends.

The attic of the library functions as a small function room, which is mainly used for readings.

The library bears the name of the writer of Fischland, Käthe Miethe. She was born in 1893 and grew up in an educated household. Her father, Prof. Dr. Adolf Miethe, one of the developers of color photography, bought a summer house in Althagen. Thus the daughter Käthe came into contact with the country and its people and learned to love them. In 1939, Käthe Miethe moved to Althagen full time. Her countless books, articles and reportages reflect the life of another generation on the Fischland. She knew how to listen to the stories of the locals and to process them in her works.

The library's collection includes the following of her works:
"Das Fischland" 1948, "Unter eigenem Dach" 1949, "Bark Magdalene 1951, "Die Flut" 1953, "Auf großer Fahrt" 1953, "Der erste Rang" 1957, "Rauchfahnen am Horizont" 1959 and "...und keine Möwe fliegt allein" 1960. The writer died in 1961 and is buried in the cemetery in Wustrow.
