The bascule bridge Am Querkanal, also known as Querkanalbrücke, connects the northern and southern areas of the harbor island.

The Querkanalbrücke is one of five bridges over which the harbor island can be reached and is a technical monument.It was put into operation in 1932 and is opened in the season from April to daily, because only small motorboats, paddleboats or rowboats can pass through on the water side when it is not open.The bridge can be used by railroad vehicles, cars as well as pedestrians and cyclists.
