The vastness of the landscape, the view of the water and the feeling of being at one with nature - that's paddling fun in the Mecklenburg Kleinseenplatte. The "Alte Fahrt" is a popular tour because it is very varied. Until the completion of the Müritz-Havel Canal in the 1930s, it was the only navigable connection between the Müritz and the waters around Mirow and the upper Havel. Today it is mostly closed to motorboats. The tour starts in Mirow, where there is accommodation and various boat hire companies. You leave Lake Mirow to the north through the Granzower Möschen. You then reach the Kotzow lakes, which are characterized by tranquillity and unspoilt nature. With a bit of luck, kingfishers can also be seen here and in summer, an endless number of water lilies adorn the surroundings. The route continues into the Leppinsee, where there is a campsite and a bathing area where you can also stop for a snack. At the end of the lake, the 500-metre-long Junker Canal leads into the Woterfitzsee. You are now in the area of the Müritz National Park and keep to the buoys to be able to observe the ospreys and white-tailed eagles from a safe distance. You leave Woterfitzsee via an 800 m long, natural canal in the direction of Caarpsee, which is surrounded by fish breeding ponds and leads to the entrance to the Bolter Canal. If you are lucky, you may spot ospreys, white-tailed eagles or kingfishers along the way and through the shallow waters of the Müritz. The tour ends at the Boeker Mühle mill at the Müritz fishermen's farm and the return journey can either be made by shuttle or via the Müritz, Kleine Müritz and the Müritz-Havel waterway back to Mirow.
