Kurt Weill: His life - his songs An interplay of words and music
Kurt Weill
His life - his songs
Text: Uta Gosselck-Perschmann
Saxophone: Michael Hornstein
Uta Gosselck-Perschmann reads selected texts about the composer Kurt Weill. In between, Michael Hornstein plays such world-famous songs on the saxophone as: "Mackie Messer", "Tango Ballad", "Lost In The Stars", "The September Song" and many more. This interplay of words and music not only recounts the Golden Twenties in Berlin, his collaboration with Bertold Brecht, which culminated in the worldwide success of The Threepenny Opera, and his life with Lotte Lenya, the famous interpreter of his songs, but also describes the stages of his exile in Paris, New York and Hollywood.
