Under the theme “Your Place in the Neighborhood,” the site of the former city lighting facility will open its doors to the public on June 21, 2026. Through guided walks, a lamp flea market, and a colorful program featuring music, dance, and a children’s circus, residents are invited to explore the site and share ideas for its future development.
On Sunday, June 21, 2026, the city invites interested residents to a special public event from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on the site of the former municipal lighting facility at Am Werder 2. Under the motto “Your Place in the Neighborhood,” this event offers the opportunity to explore the grounds and buildings and to gather ideas together for the future development and use of the site.
A guided walk through the grounds and buildings will begin at 12:00 p.m., led by the First Deputy Mayor and Head of the Department of Construction, Bernd Nottebaum. During the tour, residents can share their ideas, ask questions, and exchange suggestions for the future design of the neighborhood. Another walk will be offered at 3 p.m. The walks will start in the center of the square.
A flea market, music, and dancing, as well as a small children’s circus program, round out the varied offerings for young and old.
