The most beautiful melodies from classical music, film, and theater. Concert at the Glasbahnhof featuring the youngest concert singer in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, 11-year-old Florentine Fritsch

Concert at the Glasbahnhof featuring Mecklenburg-Vorpommern’s youngest concert singer, 11-year-old Florentine Fritsch from Sassnitz

Florentine—in German, “the flowery one” or “the one who resembles a flower”—even her name is poetry, but her true calling is singing. The now 11-year-old vocal prodigy from Sassnitz is the daughter of music teacher and choir director Angelika Fritsch and the granddaughter of the former owners of Rügen’s oldest drugstore, which still operates today with its historic interior on Hafenstraße in Sassnitz.

Florentine began singing small solos as early as age seven; at eight, she was already performing in a church concert, and at nine, she sang with an orchestra for the first time. At that time, she took voice lessons from Sassnitz-based vocal coach and certified choir director Alex Bergstedt. Since then, she has built up a considerable repertoire, including classic songs such as “Heidenröslein” and “Die launische Forelle” by Franz Schubert, as well as musical theater and film scores.

Florentine Fritsch enchants audiences with her high, crystal-clear, youthful soprano voice. For the concert at the Glasbahnhof, she will perform her favorite pieces from operetta, classical music, musicals, film, and more, including Bach-Gounod’s “Ave Maria,” “You Raise Me Up,” “Vilja, das Waldmägdelein,” and “Memory” from the musical *Cats*. She will be accompanied on the piano by her teacher, Alex Bergstedt.

On September 27, Florentine will showcase her talent at 6 p.m. at the Glasbahnhof in Sassnitz. Tickets cost 10 and 15 € for front-row seats and are available in advance at Drogerie Fritsch on Hafenstraße in Sassnitz, as well as online via Eventfrog and Eventim, and at the box office on the night of the performance.
