Schwerin is celebrating UNESCO World Heritage Day for an entire week this year - with a varied program of special tours, exhibitions, concerts and hands-on activities. The Mecklenburgische Staatskapelle will join in the celebrations and pay tribute to the Schwerin Residence Ensemble, which has been a World Heritage Site since 2024, with a special symphony concert. The internationally acclaimed conductor Hartmut Haenchen returns to his old place of work for this: he was the Staatskapelle's chief conductor from 1976 to 1979. Works by the composers Johann Wilhelm Hertel and Friedrich von Flotow - both closely associated with Schwerin - as well as Franz Schubert's Symphony in C major will be performed.
Musical director: Hartmut Haenchen
Orchestra: Mecklenburgische Staatskapelle
