Woyzeck Drama by Georg Büchner A fragment from 14 years Premiere13. June 2026
"I believe that if we went to heaven, we would have to help thunder."
The poor soldier Franz Woyzeck is barely able to offer his girlfriend Marie and their newborn child a minimum of a decent life. In his distress, he hires himself out as a humane medical object to a doctor and as a henchman to a captain. Both humiliate Woyzeck terribly and unscrupulously exploit his need for money. A drum major courts Marie and, with the prospect of a better life, she becomes involved with him. Meanwhile, Woyzeck suffers from hallucinations and hears voices. Marie's infidelity causes him to run amok and he stabs her to death in a jealous rage.
