Workshop productions and discussion
In the "Werk in Progress" series, two texts are selected each year by students of the UdK Berlin's Scenic Writing course and staged as a workshop production with the university's drama students. The focus is on process. The texts will be further developed together with professional production teams and presented to an interested audience for the first time. The young voices of the authors and the enthusiasm of the young actors make this format so special!
In 2026, the Vagantenbühne will cooperate with the TOG for the first time for "Werk in Progress". These works will be shown at the Schauspielhaus on May 9:
MAULWÜRFE
by Franca Zajac
Jan Andrzej and Piotr Szczepan are connected by their migration history. One lures the other to the Ruhr region because Germany needs men who can really get stuck in. Karo visits her father in a former miners' settlement. His neighbor tells her about his longing for his Polish homeland. Franca Zajac weaves the stories of her characters into a touching miniature panorama of German-Polish history.
GHOSTBIKE
by Julie Guigonis
Rocky is dead. One of many cyclists who are run over by turning trucks every year. Left behind are his cousin, his best friend Giorgos and his former instructor König. Their mission: to erect a ghost bike in memory of Rocky and paint the cycle path red, which should have been marked as such by the authorities long ago. In the end, they get help from someone they least expected.
