Bad Penny - Celtic Rock at its finest
Let yourself fall into the world of the Nordic-Celtic beauty of music. You want to dance and lose yourself. "It hit me right in the heart, this band," wrote the legendary promoter Peter Rüchel in his book Rockpalast Erinnerungen in the chapter on the future of music. Musically, Bad Penny can be found somewhere between Pink Floyd's Mystic and the folk of the Waterboys.
Bad Penny, named after the song of the same name by Irish singer and guitarist Rory Gallagher, is a band from Rostock that particularly impresses with "a self-confident lead guitar, the lilting accordion and the dominant piano" (GoodTimes, 6/13). In more than ten years of band history, three studio albums have been produced so far, in which the use of a wide variety of instruments leads to wonderfully "changing timbres" (celtic-rock.de, 1/14). By playing abroad on numerous occasions, they have been named "favorite foreigner band" by Yorkshire music magazine Keep Music Live, among others. The Financial Times even described them as a North German flagship, as they not only convince in English, but also with lyrics in their Nordic dialect - such as the radio hit "Ilsebill".
