The well-known singer-songwriter from Rostock gets everyone in the mood for the winter and Christmas season with his musical reading.

The well-known singer-songwriter from Rostock sets the mood for the winter and Christmas season with his musical reading “Winter, Oh You Cold Friend,” featuring excerpts from Ernst Barlach’s letters.

Away from the stress of shopping and the hustle and bustle of gift-giving, Rostock-based singer-songwriter Wolfgang Rieck invites you to a contemplative Christmas program. With his own songs in High German and Low German, wintery stories, and a variety of unusual instruments—from guitar and banjo to harmonica and sea drum—he creates an atmospheric setting full of tranquility, humor, and reflection.

A special focus of the program is the work of sculptor Ernst Barlach. Excerpts from his Christmas and winter letters offer insights into his inner world and are complemented by songs composed specifically to accompany Barlach’s sculptures.

The concert begins at 4:00 p.m. Tickets are available in advance at Hagenow-Information, Lange Straße 79, 19230 Hagenow, 03883/729096, e-mail: hagenow-info@hagenow.de. Tickets ordered in advance and paid for by bank transfer can be picked up at the box office starting at 3:00 p.m.
