Jazz & Chanson, World Music, Classical Music, Musikland MV

In this concert, organ and saxophone merge in a dreamlike way. Early music, jazz, classical, tango, choral and groove become a musical journey through the world.

An exciting musical journey through different times and styles

Volker Jaekel: organ, portative (portable, medieval organ)
Gert Anklam: saxophones, sheng (Chinese mouth organ)

In their program, the Berlin musicians span a wide range from early music to jazz, combining our different musical influences. They will perform unusual arrangements of old chorales, their own compositions influenced by their collaboration with musicians from other cultures, orchestral soundscapes on the organ and rousing improvisations. In the concert, they will also perform on two small and rare organs. These are the Chinese Sheng mouth organ and the medieval portative.

Their repertoire includes arrangements of works by Johann Sebastian Bach, Edward Grieg, Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy, Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina, Steve Lacy, Astor Piazzolla and others.

"A dreamlike fusion of organ sound and saxophone, beyond common clichés, a musical journey through the world to itself."
