Enjoy Windros concerts on Friday and Saturday evenings and at the Sunday matinee in front of the farmhouse! NEW: Windros Museum Festival Unplugged on Saturday!
Thrilling concerts, dancing, traditional music, and folk tunes from Mecklenburg-Schwerin and across Europe will fill the air from September 4 to 6, 2026, at the Windros Festival —held at the farmhouse, in the dance tent, and on small stages set among the orchard meadows of the Schwerin-Mueß Open-Air Museum. There will also be music workshops and a museum family festival!
The 2026 Windros Festival’s theme is “East meets West,” bringing together Eastern and Western European musical traditions in the tranquil museum village of Mueß on the outskirts of Schwerin. Artists will perform music from the regions of Poland, Ukraine, Belarus, and the “Yiddish shtetl.” They will meet musicians from Ireland, Germany, and Scandinavia. This will once again result in exciting collaborative projects this year.
Due to renovation and modernization work and the associated restrictions at the Schwerin-Mueß Open-Air Museum, there will be some changes to the festival’s schedule and program this year.
On Festival Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and on Festival Saturday from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., there will be seminars on traditional music for the first time. The members of the band VIERTOUR will offer various music courses on intangible cultural heritage:
- Singing and musical accompaniment of folk songs from the Thuringian Forest
- Playing the forest zither
- Ensemble course for German folk music
- Playing the accordion
Those interested can register separately for these courses: Festival Workshops 2026

From 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., the “Windros Museum Festival Unplugged” takes place on the main grounds of the Mueßer Museum Village. Between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m., visitors pay only the regular museum admission fee with no extra cost for all the great activities. You can experience the following:
- various dance activities and the "Ferkelball" (children’s dance)

- and much more...
Three Windros concerts featuring European bands and performers will take place on Friday and Saturday evenings between 6 and 11 p.m. in front of the Hufe 1 farmhouse. A dance floor in front of the stage offers plenty of opportunities to join in the dancing. During set changes, bands will play unplugged in the courtyard of the Häuslerei.
The legendary matinee, featuring short performances by all the festival’s artists, will once again create a fantastic atmosphere on the main stage in front of the farmhouse on Sunday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Members of the award-winning North German dance band MALBROOK and members of the Zentrum für Traditionelle Musik e.V. association organize this special festival every year with passion, energy, and good cheer. The festival is sponsored by the state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern and the Heimatverband MV. This year, it takes place for the 14th time at the Schwerin-Mueß Open-Air Museum of Folklore.
