A young tailor leaves the safety of his room and his town. He overcomes the harshness of nature and learns to cope with it. This helps him stand up to the artificiality and intrigues of the court, and ultimately marry the princess and become king. The king tells the story… well, the old king… that is, the father of the princess who married the tailor. Now he’s a retired king and has plenty of time on his hands. Out of sheer whim and just to pass the time, he came up with the idea of converting the royal sewing box so he could travel through the country with it. So he tells the people the incredible story of the love that made the little tailor brave and even helped a king overcome his fear. And all because of seven flies on a slice of bread! A play for an old king, six marionettes, two giants, and the royal sewing box.
