The current project by Bernardo San Rafael, a choreographer and performer based in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, uses the game of tennis as a dramaturgical metaphor to explore social power structures and the impact of “white supremacy” on social, cultural, and economic decisions on a global scale. WHITE!!! combines dance, song, and electronic music with a visually striking installation—designed specifically for the Kulturkirche St. Jakobi and consisting of thousands of tennis balls—that is actively incorporated into the performers’ work.
