A film satire by Thierry Klifa, starring Isabelle Huppert
A hilariously funny drama whose depths are reminiscent of Shakespeare: THE RICHEST WOMAN IN THE WORLD, starring a brilliant Isabelle Huppert in the title role, is a satire as grandiose as it is ambiguous about the power of money and the seductive belief in a family that could resist it.
Marianne is considered the richest woman in the world. Pierre-Alain, a Parisian dandy who divides his time between the typewriter and the camera, meets her at a photo shoot—and stays. From this unexpected encounter grows a close friendship that inspires both admiration and irritation. While the public is left puzzled, this newfound closeness stirs up unrest within her inner circle...
“The truth was too absurd not to be made into a movie…” The film (*La femme la plus riche du monde*) is loosely based on the real-life Bettencourt affair involving L’Oréal heiress Liliane Bettencourt and photographer François-Marie Banier.
