Film biography by Alejandro Monteverde (136 min.)
In 1889, Francesca Cabrini, an Italian nun, arrives in New York - a city characterized by immigration, misery and hope. As the Pope's personal envoy, she immediately begins her mission: to help the poorest of the poor, especially orphans from immigrant families. But what awaits her is more than just poverty - it is a system of indifference, prejudice and male-dominated power structures that constantly puts obstacles in her way.
But Cabrini, unbending in spirit, resists every form of restriction. At a time when women are condemned to silence, she raises her voice - for the sick, the orphans and for all those who are marginalized by society. With her visionary strength, she quickly achieves success - but this quickly becomes a thorn in the side of New York's most powerful men.
