Media exhibition for information, borrowing and participation
Under the motto "What is true?", the nationwide campaign week will explore the tension between facts, opinions and truthfulness.
Freedom of opinion is a valuable asset in democracies. But what happens when people spread demonstrably false information? Are they allowed to do so as long as they are "only expressing their opinion"? Or does a society need clear boundaries, not least to protect cohesion and democracy? How do we deal with different "truths" in discourse? How selectively do we perceive truth and opinion in the digital public sphere - and how do I even differentiate between "true" and "credible" in times of fake news, deepfakes and AI?
Freedom of Expression Week 2026 will address the following questions, among others Where does opinion end - and where does responsibility begin? What role do the media play and how do they influence our perception of truth?
There will be a media exhibition and an extra round of "Coffee & AI" at the Ribnitz library.
