The event series "Wanderlust Travel - Experience the World Up Close!" is organized by Umweltprojekte Nord e.V., a non-profit association from Stralsund. Each lecture offers new insights into exciting travel destinations and invites you to discover the world in a special way.
A remote spot in the Pacific, monumental stone statues and a mystery that still fascinates people around the world today: Rapa Nui, Easter Island, is the destination of the next wanderlust trip, which takes those interested on an impressive pictorial journey.
The presentation takes visitors to the proverbial "end of the world" - to the famous Moai, wild coastal landscapes, ancient places of worship and into the everyday lives of the people who live on Rapa Nui today. The focus is not only on the well-known postcard motifs, but also on the background, stories and personal impressions that paint a multifaceted picture of the island.
Speaker Ulrich Schumacher shows how myth and modern reality meet on Rapa Nui, the legends surrounding the stone sculptures and what it is like to travel to this unique island. The remote volcanic island is surprisingly small - it is only about a third of the size of Rügen - and yet seems like a world of its own.
Admission is free.
