Ballet Evening by Ana Isabel | Casquilho Music by Charles Gounod and David Nigro
“As I move forward, I find both torment and joy.”
, Faust in *Faust II*
This production tells the story of Faust as a psychological journey that reflects the pressures of modern life. Faust lives in a world of speed, productivity, and constant demands. Surrounded by characters who function like cogs in a system, he operates efficiently but feels deeply alienated. When Marguerite appears, time seems to slow down. Her presence brings calm, intimacy, and the chance for genuine human connection. Mephisto embodies temptation, acceleration, and excess. Caught between these forces, Faust’s inner world shatters: A dreamlike descent into Walpurgis Night, a collective ritual in which identities blur and instinct takes control.
The vision ends, and Faust returns to the real world. The system continues to run, unchanged. Yet something within him has shifted.
Walpurgis Night: The Awakening invites us to experience Faust not only as a timeless story , but as a mirror of the present. What remains when the masks fall ? Do we encounter, in the moment of losing control, something more authentic than the roles we play every day?
