The historian Gunnar Möller will talk about little-known fortifications of the 13th and 14th centuries in the Principality of Rügen.
In the wake of the anniversary year 2025 - 700 years after the death of Wizlaw III and the end of the Principality of Rügen - the Bergen City Museum is devoting a lecture by Gunnar Möller to the following topic: "Stralsund residence of the Rügen princes, castles in the Principality of Rügen". The Slavic castle ramparts of Arkona and Garz are familiar to most Rügen residents and many visitors to the island. What is less well known is that castles continued to exist and were built even after the Slavic period under the princes of Rügen. This happened both on the island and on the mainland. A lecture will be given on these fortifications of the 13th and 14th centuries, which have been little known until now.
