Leo Pushkin is a reporter. He lives for the day, likes to indulge in a sip of Baikal vodka with his homemade caviar and doesn't get involved in anything, especially not a good cause. One day, when he is commissioned to infiltrate the Kremlin's foreign broadcaster, Leo manages a spectacular piece of research - but his employer, a renowned newspaper from Berlin, doesn't want to print his story. In order not to go crazy, Leo writes his story down as a "novel". Here it is.
Nikita Afanasjew, born in the Soviet Union in 1982, emigrated to Germany in the 1990s. As a journalist, Afanasjew travels Eastern Europe and his old post-Soviet homeland, writing for ZEIT, GEO and reportages. He was awarded the German Reporter Prize and was nominated for the Henri Nannen and Axel Springer Prizes. Afanasjew published his first novel "Banküberfall, Berghütte oder ans Ende der Welt" (2017) with Voland & Quist. VQ stands for courageous, emancipated, fresh literature that doesn't fit into any box, for comedy and poetry, for special illustrated books for children, young adults and adults (graphic novels). We love good stories, but we also love border crossings, the unusual, the experimental. Voices that are recognizable among hundreds.
