Statement by Simon Tomsett:
I’m originally from the UK—or rather, Ireland—and have also traveled extensively throughout the U.S. Photography has always been an essential part of my sense of self and my understanding of my surroundings. After living in Berlin for ten years and most recently in Greifswald, this photography project emerged from a desire to understand the East-West landscape, as well as from a general fascination with what separates us as individuals, peoples, and nations.
Originally from the U.K./Ireland and having also traveled extensively in the U.S., photography has been an integral part of my self-understanding and my understanding of the world around me. Having lived in Berlin for ten years and, more recently, in Greifswald, this photo project began with a desire to make sense of the East-West landscape and a general fascination with what divides us—as individuals, peoples, and nations.
