15:00 Lecture on the life and work of the architect by Prof. Ulrike Volkhardt
At the beginning of the 20th century, the Mecklenburg architect Paul Korff (1875-1945) worked extensively in Mecklenburg and Pomerania, Brandenburg, East Prussia, the Baltic states, Silesia and the Rhineland. His oeuvre includes stately manor houses, prestigious villas, comfortable country houses, apartment buildings and modest workers' houses, as well as commercial buildings, churches and monuments.
Paul Korff was responsible for many architectural redesigns, both in urban and rural areas of the Mecklenburg region. The numerous manor houses with their adjoining parks, which Paul Korff rebuilt or altered in design, are particularly striking.
This also includes the manor house in Badow. After the old neoclassical manor house burned down on January 25, 1905, the von Döring family, who had owned the estate since 1700, had the present neo-baroque building erected on the 17th century cellar vaults according to plans by Paul Korff.
This year marks the 120th anniversary of the reconstruction of the house. Reason enough to pay tribute to the architect with an exhibition.
