Lapland-Balkans
The five Finns have developed a unique musical mixture: in their songs, traditional Finnish tangos and humppas meet the sonic power of the Balkans.
With trumpet, bouzouki, accordion, double bass, drums and above all the snappy vocals of band leader Jaakko Laitinen, Väärä Raha conveys all the power, but also the melancholy, of their homeland. The songs are about love and beauty as well as the finiteness of existence and eternal longings.
Väärä Raha formed in 2009 and won the Emma, the Finnish Grammy, in the Ethno Music category in 2024 with their album Äyskäri. But the band's preferred habitat remains the stage. Even after over 1,000 performances in 20 countries, the "boys" are still bursting with stage energy and feel at home everywhere: at village festivals in northernmost Lapland, in the hippest clubs in Helsinki and at numerous festivals.
Admission is €15, €10 for schoolchildren, students and disabled people.
