Usedomer Literaturtage: Award ceremony for Clemens J. Setz
Usedomer Literaturpreis 2026
Sometimes it seems as if a hotel room near the Baltic Sea beach in the light of the morning is being divided into countless drafts of possible futures, while the view to the east sweeps across the sea and the landscape becomes literature like a quiet accompanying voice.
There, an Austrian author unfolds his texts like precision-engineered devices in which restlessness and consolation resonate at the same time. Clemens J. Setz, who grew up in Graz and was awarded the Georg Büchner Prize, returns in the northern coastal light to the books that turned him from a student teacher into a keen-eyed chronicler of the present.
From early sons and planets to moons before landing, this future laboratory spans and distinguishes one of the outstanding contemporary writers of the German language.
Clemens J. Setz will read from his volume of stories "Der Trost runder Dinge" during the award ceremony.
