Following last year’s opening concert featuring music from Senegal, the Usedom Music Festival now presents fascinating sounds from Panama as part of its “Window to the World” series. Together with musicians from the Baltic Sea Philharmonic, the Panama Festival Ensemble builds a musical bridge between classical tradition and the rhythmic soul of Latin America.
Under the direction of cellist Isaac Casal, the quintet performs, among other works, the passionate compositions of Astor Piazzolla. With an ensemble consisting of cello, violins, double bass, and percussion, the group blends the highest level of virtuosity with the energy of the tango—a dynamic dialogue that boldly pushes the boundaries of chamber music.
