On Saturday, June 27, 2026, a guided tour through Neubrandenburg's city center invites you to rediscover the architectural history of the GDR era.
Under the title "Neubrandenburg - a picture book of GDR architecture", the focus is on the reconstruction of the city center and the development from National Tradition to Eastern Modernism (1952-1985). The tour leads from Turmstraße via Herbordstraße with the "Soli-Block" past the police station, market square, old hotel, department store and the prefabricated buildings of the 1980s.
The tour is led by architect Ullrich Schmidt. The event is organized by the Mecklenburg Lake District Chamber Group of the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Chamber of Architects.
The event is part of the program of the nationwide Day of Architecture 2026.
